FTN PCR35 Banding Film

FTN PCR35 is a polypropylene (PP) banding film with at least 35% post-consumer recycled material. This means that part of the material comes from plastic waste that has been collected and reprocessed after use. As a result, less virgin plastic is needed and the circular economy is supported.

Material properties

FTN PCR35 is made from high-quality polypropylene. The film is transparent, very tear-resistant and suitable for banding with ultrasonic and heat-seal technology. It does not contain harmful plasticisers and can be recycled.

Depending on the version, the film is available, for example, in a width of 30 mm, a material thickness of 135 µm and 750 running metres per roll. In the FTN version, the seal reaches a tensile shear strength of more than 30 kg. The slightly rough surface ensures a good grip on the product.

FTN delivers a good print image using flexographic printing. It is also well suited for just-in-time printing using thermal transfer printing. FTN is 100% recyclable.

  • Available in widths of 15 mm, 20 mm, 30 mm, 50 mm, 60 mm, 75 mm and 100 mm.
  • Available in film thicknesses of 100 µm, 110 µm, 125 µm and 135 µm.
  • Printable with up to 12 colours using flexographic printing.
  • Suitable for banding machines with ultrasonic technology.
  • Barcodes etc. remain machine-readable through the film.
  • Especially well suited for industrial applications, parcels, containers and multipacks.
  • Also available as extra-strong FTND with a film thickness of 180 µm, FTNR in transparent red, FTNB in transparent blue, FTNG in transparent yellow and FTNW in matt white.

Benefits

The most important benefit of FTN PCR35 is its share of at least 35% PCR material. This reduces the need for virgin plastic. At the same time, the film remains strong, stable and easy to process.

For companies, the film is also interesting with regard to EU packaging rules. The PPWR aims to make packaging more recyclable, increase the use of recycled plastic and reduce the consumption of primary raw materials.

FTN PCR35 can therefore help customers make their packaging more sustainable and prepare early for future requirements. From 2030, the PPWR provides for minimum recycled content levels for many plastic packaging types. However, the exact requirements depend on the type of packaging and its area of use.

Application examples

FTN PCR35 is suitable for applications where products need to be safely bundled, fixed or held together. Typical examples include:

Bundling printed matter, cards, brochures or paper products
Packaging food, provided the specific application has been approved
Grouping consumer goods in retail
Fixing products in logistics
Replacing cardboard sleeves, shrink film or adhesive tape in suitable applications
Bundling industrial goods or spare parts

The film is especially useful when packaging needs to be light, material-saving and stable at the same time.

Importance for the PPWR

As part of the PPWR, sustainable packaging design is becoming more important. Packaging should use less material, be recyclable and contain more recycled material. FTN PCR35 fits these goals well because the film already contains at least 35% PCR material and is recyclable.

This makes FTN PCR35 a good solution for companies that want to make their packaging more sustainable without giving up a strong and reliable banding film.
